Homeschooling Support

At The Joy of Learning, we are committed to partnering with Home Educators to help them provide the best possible learning experience for their children.

We support kids with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, Anxiety, Apraxia, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Developmental Delays, and more. We also support children who don’t have any learning or developmental challenges, and those who may learn differently than average, but prefer not to label it.

We understand the complexity of educating a child who learns differently. For this reason, we offer a range of services so that families can choose what is right for them.

Because we are a private practice, we don’t subscribe to the rules or norms of the public education system. Students are encouraged to learn at their own pace, without the pressure of needing to “catch up” to same age peers.

We come to you throughout the Boulder and Denver metro areas, or you can come to our North Boulder office. We also meet with students at libraries.

Consulting

Do you need some direction when designing your homeschool instruction? I'd be happy to help! I'm familiar with several different homeschool curricula and their benefits and drawbacks for students with Dyslexia. I'd love to chat and provide you with some resources. Consulting sessions are $60/hour. Email me to set something up. If you are interested in our other services, you can schedule a free consultation instead at this link.

1-1 Tutoring

Benefit from a custom designed program by one of our highly trained Learning Specialists! Get focused instruction in reading, writing, or math using research based, multi-sensory methods. We can share the teaching responsibility with you, or we can take it off your hands - whichever you prefer. Start dates for 1-1 tutoring are available year round.

Small Group Instruction

Small groups are like 1-1 tutoring, except they are more affordable and more social! To create a small group, we need 2 or more students who are at very similar skill levels. Please reach out if you are interested in small groups, and we will let you know when we have enough students to form a group.

Summer Camp 2024

Summer Camp 2024 will be a mix of 1-1 and small group instruction in Reading, Writing, and Math, for students ages 6-10. It will take place in Boulder County (location TBD - either Boulder, Superior, or Lafayette).

Tentative Dates are July 8 - August 2nd (4 weeks). The academic program is 1/2 day, and students will have the option to stay for a full day and do fun camp activities. If you are interested in camp, please let me know! I'd love to hear your preferences around, dates, location, and timing.

Intensive Small Group Learning Pod

I am putting together intensive small groups for ages 6-11 that meet 3-5 days per week for 3 hours in the morning, for the 2024-2025 school year. The groups will be designed based on age and skill level. If you are interested, please reach out and let me know. I would love to hear your preferences!
