Learning Pods

What

The Joy of Learning is putting together a learning pod for K-1 for the 2022-2023 school year. The pod will provide intensive small, group instruction in reading, writing, and math in the mornings, with an option for half day or full day programming, with a bit more academics and enrichments in the afternoons.

Teacher

Hi, I'm Jordan. I'm an Educational Therapist specializing in Dyslexia. I am trained as a classroom teacher, Educational Therapist, Orton Gillingham practitioner, and Multisensory math practitioner. I've taught students with learning differences in the classroom setting (1st-3rd grade), in small groups and 1-1 in my private practice for the past 7 years. I will be teaching the reading, writing, and math, and another teacher will be teaching the optional afternoon program.

aboutus

The pod currently has one rising 1st grader with dyslexia, who is working on learning letter names and sounds currently. The reading instruction will generally start there, and we are looking for students with similar needs, although there is space for some variation since it's such a small group. This pod is appropriate for students with or without Dyslexia. All the instruction will be very hands on, multisensory, and individualized to each student.

The students will be in a group of 2-4 total with 1 teacher. If more than 4 total students sign up, there will be an additional teacher.
